Marathon: Weapons of DOOM

Assembled by Mark Levin

Marathon is currently the closest we Mac users can get to playing Doom on a Mac (This will change by the end of the summer when id Software ports Doom II). But because of Marathon's expandable nature, users can edit the Shapes or Physics Model to duplicate Doom in Marathon. I have assembled what I consider the best of these duplicates.*

Contents:

Folder: The Goods
Files: BFG9000 Shapes Patch, READ-ME, Physics Model, the Game
By: DeeLUx3

This patch and Physics Model turns the Alien Weapon into a BFG 9000 that fires bunches of ultra-powerful Juggernaut missiles. N.B.: I could not contact DeeLUx3 by E-mail on AOL. DeeLUx3, are you out there?

Folder: The Complete Shotgun Kit
Files: Shotgun Shapes, Shotgun Sound, Physics Model, Read me
By: Moses Fisk (MosesFisk@aol.com)

This patch and Physics Model turns the pistol into a shotgun. The shotgun sound requires a little hacking to install, see "Read me" for more info.

Folder: Exploding Barrels 2.0
Files: Physics Model, Read me!
By: Ed Guild (MonkeyWare@aol.com)

This Physics Model places exploding barrels of toxic waste in your Marathon map. You may have to edit the object placement information in your map, see "Read me!" for more info.

Folder: The Complete DOOM
Files: BFG/Shotgun Combined Installer, Physics Model
By: All of the above

Because of the way the shapes installers work, the BFG 9000 and the Complete Shotgun Kit are incompatible and cannot be installed together in one Shapes file. I hacked around with MSE and managed to make a combined installer that places both graphics in the Shapes file. I also made a combined Physics Model driver so that both weapons can be used simultaneously. The driver also runs the Exploding Barrels so that Marathon can run the entire Weapons of DOOM collection together. It's in the folder "BFG/Shotgun Combined".

Important Note on Updates:
This is not a static, one-time-only collection. I welcome other Doom-like Shapes and models. Feel free to send me yours, I might include it in the next version of Weapons of DOOM.

*If you have any candidates for my collection, by all means send them to me! I can be reached at Strange@aol.com
